NaNoWriMo Winner!

As you can see from my previous post, I participated in National Novel Writing Month in November. The goals was to write a full novel--50,000 words-- in thirty days. Well, I'm ecstatic to say that I did it! And I did it a few days earlier than scheduled.

I decided that there was no more room for excuses. If I want to reach my writing goals, I have to devote myself to my writing, which can be hard to do because I write for so many other people/companies. But I did it! Now, I just have to edit and rework it, but at least it's down on paper.

I feel fulfilled, happy, and just plain giddy.

If you need proof, check out my writer profile. :)

Welcome to NaNoWriMo!

November is National Novel Writing Month, and as you cant tell, I'm super excited! The whole point is to write an entire novel--50,000 words--in thirty days. I'm participating this year for the first time. No more excuses for me. I'm writing my novel this month. It's overwhelming, but it's also exciting.

Anyone can do it. So, if you've ever thought about writing a novel, now's the time!

You can go here for more information.

If you want to keep track of my progress, you can visit here. Or, you can look at the widget on the side bar on this blog. If you sign up, make sure you add me as a writing buddy so I can stay updated on your progress!

If you want to try, it's not too late to start. You still have time! All you have to do is to write a little over 1,600 words each day this month, and you'll reach your goal.

A Blast from My Past - The Cricket's Revenge

When I was in seventh grade, I was outside in my front yard when I saw a cricket jumping down the street. In order to entertain myself, I decided to follow that little cricket to see where it was going. I followed it for a while, but sometimes it would just stop moving forward, and that bored me.

So, I discovered that if I stood over the cricket, it would keep jumping. All of sudden, I realized the cricket must have jumped away when I wasn't looking. I couldn't find it anywhere. I lost interest and decided to go back inside and watch TV.

Hours later, I had forgotten all about the cricket and its journey down the street when I started to have an itch on my lower back area. Assuming it was just the tag from my shorts rubbing on my back, I reach back to fix it. My hand felt a slightly warm, quivering little bump latched onto the inside of my underwear.

I stood straight up and started screaming. I didn't want to touch it, but I could feel it scraping against my skin. I screamed long enough that my older sister tried to help. She reached down in my pants and my underwear and pulled it off of me.

I don't know what happened to the cricket after that, but there's one thing I know for sure. The cricket got its revenge. I haven't looked at a cricket in the same way since, and yet, they always seem to find me.

A Clean, New Blog

There is something about starting over, starting fresh. I have another blog that I've been posting on for years, but I think it's time to start over. The other blog became my healing ground for tragedy, and I felt as though I couldn't escape from that. That's why this new blog was created. I don't want to focus on the pain in my life, necessarily. I'll save that for my personal writing. I just want this blog to be about my life in general. I'm not saying I'm going to only focus on the positive, but I definitely want to focus more on the positive.

So, let's take this bad boy for a spin, shall we?
